3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 260 is a widely used, well-known general purpose epoxy powder resin. A one-part, green pigmented, rapid heat-curing product, it is designed to provide a continuous, tough, moisture and chemical resistant dielectric coating to a variety of substrates. It is manufactured by a fusion blend process, insuring that each individual particle of powder contains all the components necessary to effect a complete cure and attain stated performance properties. Resin 260 is applied to an object that has been heated to a temperature above the melting point of the resin. On contact with the preheated application surface, the resin melts, flows to a controlled extent, then cures, bonding to the substrate and coalescing into a smooth, continuous, essentially uniform, thick coating. It effectively coats flat surfaces and corners, as well as, high points. Uses for resin 260 include moisture-proofing and insulating armatures, stators, buss bars and toroid cores.

Low melt viscosity and minimum build make this unfilled powder ideal for a variety of coating, bonding, and saturation applications. Resin 265 is manufactured by a fusion blend process, insuring that each individual particle of powder contains all the components necessary to effect a complete cure and attain stated performance properties.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 5555 is a one-part, green pigmented, rapid heat curing powder coating. It is designed to provide a continuous, tough moisture and chemical resistant dielectric coating for motor stators, armatures, and transformers. Electrical resin 5555 is manufactured by a fusion blend process, insuring that each individual particle of powder contains all the components necessary to effect a complete cure and attain stated performance properties. Resin 5555 can be applied via cold electrostatic fluid bed, hot venturi spray or hot fluid bed dip. When applied electrostatically to a cold part, induction heat is recommended to melt and flow the powder to a tough, moisture and chemical resistant dielectric coating for various electrical devices. When applied to a hot part the resin melts, flows to a controlled extent, then cures, bonding to the substrate and coalescing into a smooth, continuous, essentially uniform, thick dielectric coating. Resin 5555 has several gel times in order to accommodate those applications that need slightly higher flow, or for application equipment that requires rapid curing.

3M™ Scotchcast Wire Coating Resin 5400 has been specially developed for continuous coating of wire products using the electrostatic fluid bed coating process. It is well suited for applications where flexibility and resistance to cracking due to heat shock or impact are required. Scotchcast Electrical Resin 5400 is manufactured by a fusion blend process which insures that each individual particle of powder contains all of the components necessary to effect a complete cure and attain the stated performance characteristics.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 5230N is a widely used, general purpose epoxy powder resin. A one-part, blue pigmented, rapid heat-curing product, it is designed to provide a continuous, tough moisture and chemical resistant dielectric coating to a variety of substrates.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 253 is a 100% solids, two-part, oven-curing, semi-flexible, filled, brown epoxy resin capable of operating continuously at 130(deg)C. the thixotropic nature of this product renders it readily applicable by dipping, extrusion or trowelling in applications where resistance to running or sagging is a requirement. The properly cured product exhibits permanent flexibility, good adhesion, good thermal and mechanical shock resistance and good thermal conductivity. Typical examples of applications where this product can be used are as a conformal coating for coils, transformers, motors, modules, electrical and electronic components or assemblies, and for buttering motor turns. Gel time is 23 min at 120(deg)C.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin MR283FO75 is a filled, epoxy resin system offering excellent physical, electrical and thermal properties. The filler minimizes shrinkage and stresses, and provides increased thermal conductivity and thermal shock resistance. Gel time is 30 min at 121(deg)C. Applications include impregnation and encapsulation of coils, transformers, motors and other electrical and electronic components.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 280 is characterized by a high temperature rating, outstanding physical and electrical stability and superior resistance to moisture. Resin system 280 remains flexible even after prolonged heat aging, while its low viscosity and fine wetting properties allow complete impregnation of fine wires in coils. Resin 280 is well suited to impregnating, potting and encapsulating applications that require superior electrical performance, maximum resistance to moisture and thermal shock resistance. Gel time is 20 min at 121(deg)C.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin System 235 has permanent semi-flexibility, thermal shock and impact resistance, good electrical and adhesion properties. This low viscosity resin is well suited to a variety of general purpose, Class B applications. Its low viscosity and good wetting characteristics allow complete impregnation of even small coils, and it has the mechanical strength and flexibility needed for high quality insulation of large castings, such as motors, transformers, and coils. Gel time 18 min at 120(deg)C.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 3 is characterized by outstanding physical and electrical stability and superior resistance to moisture. Its low viscosity and fine wetting properties allow complete impregnation of fine wires in coils. Resin 3 is well suited to impregnating, potting and encapsulating applications such as coils, transformers, modules, and other electrical and electronic components. Gel time is 21 min at 121(deg)C.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 281 is characterized by high temperature and electrical stability and excellent retention of flexibility even after prolonged heat aging. It can be cured at low temperatures, but the optimum properties are obtained with the higher temperature cure schedules. Applications include impregnation and encapsulation of coils, transformers, motors and other electrical and electronic components.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 251 is a medium viscosity, rigid, Class F resin system widely used where physical strength and excellent electrical properties at elevated temperatures are required. An easy 1:1 mix ratio and good handling characteristics have contributed to the products popularity.

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 226 is a rubbery castor-based polyurethane that combines very low viscosity with a good workable pot life and a demold time, at room temperature, of as little as six hours. Resin 226 maintains good electrical properties in both wet and dry environments. It also has long-term heat stability and good toughness. Resin 226 is used for a wide range of electrical and electronic potting and casting applications. It is formulated with materials that have low volatility at room temperature, minimizing toxicity potential. The isocyanate used is not TDI, and does not contain MOCA

3M™ Scotchcast Electrical Resin 208 is a 100% solids epoxy resin system useful for impregnating and encapsulating U.S. Navy motors through frame size 326. Packaged in pre-measured kits, resin 208 protects windings against unusual environmental conditions in applications up to 130(deg)C. Because of the product`s good wetting and impregnating properties, there is little scrap and little need for rework or patching. The preferred curing cycle for all frame sizes is 48 hours at room temperature.
